London-based professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) has appointed Al-Munther Sultan as a managing director of healthcare and life sciences in A&M’s corporate finance division.

Sultan was previously a director in the healthcare and life sciences team at KPMG. He specialises in advising business owners, executive teams and private equity investors on a range of domestic and cross-border transactions including acquisitions, business disposals, private equity investment and the sale of non-core divisions. Sultan spent more than five years at KPMG, and before that spent three years at EY within the life sciences M&A team.

Before entering consulting, he spent three years within National Australia Bank’s leveraged finance team, latterly becoming a manager at Infrastructure Leasing & Financial Services and Clearwater International.

A&M has also appointed Claire Edwards as a director in the healthcare and life sciences team. Edwards has more than 17 years’ experience of corporate finance, providing advice to business owners, management teams and private equity investors on a range of mid-market transactions including business disposals, acquisitions and private equity investment.
