NHS England: Matthew Swindells

Matthew Swindells has been appointed national director of commissioning operations and information at NHS England.

NHS England said Swindells would join in "late spring". His role will involve managing the organisation’s regional and sub-regional teams, overseeing and developing clinical commissioning groups along with planning and performance tasks.

Swindells is currently based in Kansas City as senior vice president at global IT firm Cerner. He joined Cerner in October 2010.

From June 2008 to October 2010, Swindells was managing director at international education provider Tribal Group.

He was also chair of the charity trustees at Imperial College NHS Hospital Trust for five years up until July 2013.

NHS England also appointed Pauline Philip as national urgent & emergency care director.

Philip is chief executive of Luton and Dunstable University Hospital Foundation Trust, a role she will retain while seconded to NHS England.

Anu Singh was appointed as director of patient & public participation & insight.

Singh joins NHS England from her role as head of business improvement at Staffordshire County Council.
