Optegra: Adam Cockley

Adam Cockley

Eye hospital group Optegra has appointed Adam Cockley as commercial director in its UK leadership team.

Cockley has more than two decades experience in healthcare. After taking a degree in biology he spent some years in biological research. He then developed a career in sales and marketing, working his way up the ranks of Diversey for 12 years to manage an £18 million business which specialised in professional cleaning chemicals. He moved to Gama Healthcare as the non-acute sales director, establishing a new business unit to diversify its infection prevention efforts beyond hospitals. Over his eight-year tenure at Gama, Cockley was promoted to commercial director, managing a £45 million business, including the NHS hospital segment.

At Optegra, Cockley will lead all sales initiatives and commercial activities, including launching a series of new NHS diagnostic clinics in regions surrounding its core hospitals. He will also manage the service promotion executive team which works with community optometrists and GPs across the country to promote the NHS service available for their cataract patients at Optegra.

Cockley said: “After two decades across two employers, with a series of promotions, I feel it has been a great journey so far – and now I want to bring that experience to a service industry within the sector I love.

“To date I have worked with manufacturers who create products for healthcare professionals to use; it is exciting to now be working with a company that directly provides a service and impacts on patients’ lives. As commercial director I am obviously very results focused, but also passionate to be working in the meaningful and worthwhile healthcare industry, assisting the company as they make a difference to peoples’ lives every day.”

Mat Pickering, Optegra UK managing director, said: “We are pleased to welcome Adam to the team as we continue to grow and reach out to more and more NHS patients. In an increasingly competitive environment, and the challenge of many varied patient pathways, it is vital that our commercial approach is aligned across the business as well as taking into account regional differences.  Adam has a strong proven track-record and we look forward to working alongside him.”

Optegra Eye Health Care has 39 eye hospitals and clinics across the UK, the Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia.
