Mediclinic International: Jurgens Myburgh
London-listed private hospital group Mediclinic International has appointed Jurgens Myburgh as its new executive director and chief financial officer.
The appointment becomes effective as of 1 August 2016 and follows the news released earlier this year that current chief financial officer Craig Tingle will seek early retirement from 15 June 2016.
Myburgh, a chartered accountant by trade, will join Mediclinic from Datatec, an IT company that operates in over 60 countries worldwide. He has held the chief financial officer’s role at Datatec since June 2014 and previously worked at The Standard Bank of South Africa (Standard Bank).
Mediclinic chairman Edwin Hertzog said: "We are pleased that Jurgens has agreed to join the board of Mediclinic as chief financial officer. We have known Jurgens for many years; when he was at Standard Bank he worked on a number of major Mediclinic corporate transactions and this has given him a valuable insight into the company.
"His recent experience as the chief financial officer at Datatec – a geographically diversified and dual listed international company – will position him well for his new role at Mediclinic."
Mediclinic merged with Al Noor Hospital Group to become Mediclinic International in 2015.
The merger, technically classified as a reverse takeover of Mediclinic by Al Noor, saw the creation of a firm with combined revenues of over $4 billion (£2.6 billion).
