Advanced Oncotherapy: Dr Nick Plowman

Advanced Oncotherapy has appointed senior physician Dr Nick Plowman as a non-executive director.

Plowman is senior physician and senior clinical oncologist at St Bartholomew’s Hospital (Barts) and the Hospital for Sick Children at Great Ormond Street (GOSH) in London.

Since becoming a consultant at the two hospitals in 1982, he has pioneered many new technologies in the field of clinical radiotherapy. Early in his career, his team at Barts introduced lens sparing ocular radiotherapy.

He also has wide experience in radiosurgery (gamma knife and cyberknife) of the brain and spine, and is medical director of the Cyberknife Centre, London.

Plowman became chairman of the Advanced Oncotherapy (AVO) medical advisory board in October 2013 and has gradually acquired a significant personal holding in the company, which develops next-generation proton therapy systems for cancer treatment.
