Assura: Graham Roberts

Healthcare real estate investment trust (REIT) Assura has announced its chief executive Graham Roberts is to step down while he battles cancer.

Roberts (pictured) was diagnosed with cancer in February 2016 and has taken leave of absence since March 2016. He will now focus his efforts on his treatment.

Chairman Simon Laffin will remain in an executive role at the REIT until a new chief executive is appointed.

Laffin said: "All of us are greatly saddened by Graham's illness and resignation, and wish him well. He has left a business in great shape with a fine team. We shall continue to grow Assura and support NHS primary care in the UK."
