Bain & Company: Andrew Lansley

Former health secretary Andrew Lansley has taken up a position at management consulting firm Bain & Company.

In a statement, the Advisory Committee on Business Appointments (ACOBA) said Lansley (pictured) had consulted the committee on taking a part-time, paid role at the firm. ACOBA did not provide further detail about Lansley's appointment.

ACOBA said: "When considering this application, the committee took into account that Mr Lansley did not have any direct, official dealings with Bain during his last two years in office.

"The committee also noted that his former departments, Cabinet Office and Department of Health, had no propriety concerns regarding this appointment.

"The committee sees no reason why Mr Lansley should not take up this appointment."

Lansley was the architect of the controversial Health & Social Care Act 2012, which scrapped primary care trusts and introduced competitive tendering processes for NHS services under the section 75 regulations.

He was succeeded as health secretary by Jeremy Hunt in September 2012.

Bain & Company's healthcare division claims to work with healthcare companies to "deliver better value for patients, fuel innovation and reduce the cost and complexity of operating systems".
