Cambridge Innovation Capital: Dr Andrew Williamson

Cambridge-based technology and healthcare investor Cambridge Innovation Capital has taken on Dr Andrew Williamson as an investment director.

Williamson joins the firm from True North Venture Partners in Chicago where he was a partner in its $300 million venture fund. Prior to this he spent a decade leading materials science and semiconductor research in US government research laboratories before taking managing director positions at various venture capital funds.

He has an MA in natural sciences and a PhD in physics from the University of Cambridge, and an MBA from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley.

Commenting on his new post, Williamson said: “It is wonderful to be returning to Cambridge and to be joining such an impressive organisation and team. There is an enormous number of potentially world-leading businesses emerging from the ‘Cambridge cluster’. Working at CIC will provide me with a great opportunity to work with these businesses to grow them into the global category leaders of the future."
