Digital health platform, Changing Health, has appointed Jacob Sunol as chief technology officer and technical leader, responsible for focusing on the behavioural, organisational and technical challenges to preventing, reversing or surviving chronic conditions including diabetes, heart disease and mental health.

Sunol has worked at healthcare companies including Roche and Ipsen where he delivered artificial intelligence products and led a team working across digital biomarkers, patient engagement/support platforms and numerous R&D innovations. He has knowledge of web and mobile technologies, artificial intelligence and algorithms.

He also previously founded his own digital health business where he was responsible for product and technology.

Sunol said: “I started a similar business 10 years ago, but that was too early. Now is the right time to start working again in this area with Changing Health and I could not be more excited. I believe we have the team, a terrific product vision and the momentum to really make a difference in the marketplace.”

Changing Health chief executive Mike Trenell added: “To have a colleague with Jacob’s experience joining our leadership team speaks volumes of where Changing Health is going. Jacob’s knowledge of technology and its strategic use are unparalleled and position us strongly to deliver our vision of machine learning enabled personalised behaviour change, at scale.”

Changing Health is headquartered in Newcastle upon Tyne with an office in Barcelona. The company recently recruited Ashley Duque Kienzle, formerly of Amazon and Facebook, as chief product officer, Tony Wallace as chief commercial officer, and serial entrepreneur Nick Imrie as chief of staff.
