Churchill Retirement Living: Alan Edgar

Alan Edgar

Retirement living company Churchill Retirement Living has appointed Alan Edgar as its new regional managing director for the East of England.

Alan joins Churchill’s operations board and will work with chief operating officer Martin Young and chairman and chief executive Spencer J McCarthy to develop the group’s Eastern presence. He will lead the team at Churchill’s regional head office in St Albans.

Edgar has more than 25 years’ experience of the property development, design and construction sector. An architect by training, he most recently led the development of several major residential construction projects in London.

Edgar said: “I’m excited to be joining Churchill at a time when there is huge potential to grow our Eastern region. We have a fantastic range of retirement locations across this part of the country which provide great opportunities to build our presence here. The company has a clear vision for the future, and I’m looking forward to building the St Albans team to achieve that vision and take us to the next level.”

McCarthy added: “Given the huge benefits retirement housing can generate, building more of this type of housing will play a key part in getting our country’s economy back on track over the coming years. We are investing across the country to achieve our plans and in turn enable many older people to live happier, healthier, more independent lives. By doing this we can also create new jobs, regenerate local high streets, and deliver new communities that give an economic boost to towns and cities across the Eastern region and nationally.”

Founded in 1994, Churchill is owned by brothers Spencer and Clinton McCarthy, and specialises exclusively in purpose-built apartments for older people. The company has built and manages more than 200 retirement developments located throughout the country.
