Cleveland Clinic London: Professor Richard Cohen and Professor Charles Knowles
Cleveland Clinic London has promoted Professor Richard Cohen to medical director and Professor Charles Knowles to chief academic officer.
Cohen is responsible for the smooth running of clinical services at the hospital. He is involved in continuous improvement, efficiency, and utilisation of clinical services, along with strategic growth. He assumed the position, alongside his existing roles of consultant colorectal surgeon, chief of surgery and chair of the Digestive Disease and Integrated Surgery Institutes.
Cohen is a colorectal surgeon who previously worked in several divisional clinical director roles at UCLH. He is professor of surgery at UCL and clinical professor of surgery at Cleveland Clinic Lerner School of Medicine.
Knowles’ existing roles as Cleveland Clinic London include lead for colorectal surgery and clinical director of research. In his new role, he is tasked with enhancing the organisation’s academic programmes, as well as research and education partnerships.
Knowles is professor of surgery at Queen Mary University of London and an honorary consultant colorectal surgeon at Barts Health NHS Trust and St Marks Hospital.
