Later-living care company Hartford Care, which operates 16 homes, has appointed Kevin Shaw as its new chief executive.

Sean and Jo Gavin, who, together, have led the development of Hartford Care since its foundation 20 years ago, are stepping back from executive roles in the company at the end of this month, with Sean remaining on the board, and both Gavins offering ad hoc consultancy.

Shaw was previously chief executive of Savista Developments and Santhem Residences, and before that was managing director at Audley Group.  He comes from a construction and development background and has worked on various retirement, specialist care and housing design projects.

Shaw will continue in his current roles as chair of Oak Housing and non-executive director at Housing Plus Group.

Shaw said: “I am delighted to be joining Hartford Care Group at such an exciting time for the company. Over the next few years, we have the support of our shareholders to double the size of the group and continue building upon the strong foundations created by Sean and Jo. Hartford Care has a talented, committed and socially conscious team which I look forward to working with.”

Carter Schwartz’s managing director, Adam Carter advised Hartford Care on this appointment.
