HC-One: Professor Graham Stokes

Care home provider HC-One has appointed Professor Graham Stokes as director of memory care support services, effective 7 January.

Stokes (pictured), a clinical psychologist, joins from Bupa where he is global director of dementia care. In his new role, he will support HC-One to enhance the care it provides to residents with dementia, and help the provider to integrate the 122 care homes it recently acquired from Bupa into its existing portfolio.

A specialist in dementia care since 1984, Stokes is a member of the government’s Challenge on Dementia 2020 task force, co-chair of Dementia Action Alliance (England), and has been the honorary visiting professor of person-centred dementia care at the University of Bradford since 2012.

Stokes commented: "I am absolutely delighted to be taking up this new role at HC-One, particularly as it welcomes some of the Bupa homes to its portfolio.”

HC-One chief executive Justin Hutchens said: “Professor Stokes’ appointment is demonstrative of our commitment to delivering the kindest and most professional care and services to residents living with dementia. I very much look forward to working with him to provide sector-leading memory care services across our growing family of homes.”
