Monitor, the health sector regulator, has appointed Stanley Silverman as deputy medical director and Dr Ruth May as nursing director.
May is a former NHS theatre sister and is currently chief nurse at NHS England Midlands & East.
Silverman will report to Monitor medical director, Hugo Mascie-Taylor.
Previously, he worked as deputy medical director for the NHS Trust Development Authority.
He was also medical director for the West Midlands Strategic Health Authority from August 2010 until March 2012.
