Phil Smith has joined New Century Care as chief operating officer after ten years at Sunrise Senior Living as senior director of operations.
Commenting on his new post, Smith (pictured) said: “The next year poses some important challenges, not least the introduction of the national living wage and the ongoing pressure on local authority fees. But there will be exciting opportunities for providers too. I’m looking forward to working with my colleagues at New Century Care to ensure we effectively meet the challenges and make the most of those opportunities.”

New Century Care operates 27 care homes providing residential, nursing and specialist dementia care services across the North East, North West, South East and in Scotland.
Hedge fund Anchorage Capital became a cornerstone investor in the business last year after acquiring £80 million of debt from Lloyds Banking Group for a controlling stake.
