New Year’s Honours List 2018

Chief inspector of adult social care at the Care Quality Commission (CQC) Andrea Sutcliffe was among a several names from the health and care sector to be recognised in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours List, receiving a CBE. 

Former president of the Royal College of Surgeons Clare Marx, and former chief executive of the Royal College of Midwives Catherine Warwick became dames, while chair of the General Medical Council Professor Terence Stephenson received a knighthood. 

CBEs also went to NHS England’s chief financial officer Paul Baumann, and director of nursing Hilary Garratt.

Chief executive of elderly support charity Silver Line Sophie Andrews received an OBE, as did president of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh Professor Derek Bell, and Royal College of Emergency Medicine president Dr Clifford Mann. Lucy Marks, chief executive officer at Compass Wellbeing, was awarded an MBE. 

Commenting on her inclusion in the honours list, Andrea Sutcliffe (pictured) said: "I feel incredibly lucky and very grateful to be honoured in this way. 

“Really, it is a tribute to the dedication and commitment of my team and colleagues at CQC who work so hard to improve the quality of life of people using adult social care services, their families and carers.”
