Orchard Care Homes: Tom Brookes and Hayden Knight

Knight succeeds Brookes at Orchard Care Homes

Orchard Care Homes, a provider of high-quality senior living across the north of the UK, announced today that Tom Brookes (pictured) is stepping down as chief executive and has appointed the company’s chief operating officer Hayden Knight as his successor.

Orchard Care Homes chairman Ian Goulding said: “After six years with the company, holding a number of senior management posts including managing director of Larchwood Care Homes and chief executive of Lifestyle Care Homes, Tom led a radical transformation programme in Orchard.

“Tom has improved the quality of the homes and developed plans for the financial sustainability of the business. He has put a highly experienced team in place, and has now appointed his successor, Hayden Knight. The board would like to thank Tom for his enormous contribution over the last six years and wish him well in his future endeavours.”

Knight joined Orchard Care Homes in May and has 23 years’ experience within the industry, holding senior positions with specialist care company The Priory Group. Orchard stated that Knight has already made a significant impact on occupancy and company operations, realigning strategic priorities of the business, and empowering staff to innovate and develop new ways of working.

Brookes will provide a strategic oversight to ensure a smooth and successful handover. Orchard Care Homes has stated that it wishes to reduce its portfolio by 25%. The transition of 14 homes will be managed by Simon Harrison, chief restructuring officer.
