Priory Healthcare: Dr Martine Stoffels

Dr Martine Stoffels has been promoted to the post of medical director acquired brain injury services at Priory Healthcare.

Stoffels (pictured) has many years of experience in adult, old age and rehabilitation psychiatry, with the last decade spent specialising in neuropsychiatry.

She trained as a doctor in Antwerp before moving to Dublin to specialise in psychiatry and became a lecturer at University College Dublin. Stoffels also has a masters in healthcare management and formal training as a cognitive analytical therapist from Oxford Brookes University. She joined Priory in 2016.

As part of her new role, Stoffels will be the medical director Priory’s Burton Park, Elm Park and Grafton Manor facilities, which specialise in the assessment and treatment of individuals with complex neurological needs following a traumatic or acquired brain injury. The units also provide treatment for neurodegenerative conditions such as dementia.

Commenting on her new position, Stoffels said: “My priority in this new role is to champion evidence-based interventions and share innovation and good practice across the entire Priory Brain Injury Services network.  The aspiration is for Priory to be recognized as a world-leading service in the provision of brain injury care, with top CQC ratings and a consultant clinical network that leads on innovation, prioritising at all times the link between mental and physical health.”
