Target Healthcare REIT: Richard Cotton and Michael Brodtman

Richard Cotton

Care home investor Target Healthcare REIT has appointed Richard Cotton as a senior independent non-executive director with effect from 1 November, following the retirement of Gordon Coull at the next AGM.

Cotton has more than 40 years’ experience in the property sector and headed the real estate corporate finance team at JP Morgan Cazenove until April 2009. Subsequently he was a managing director of Forum Partners and chairman of Centurion Properties. He has wide corporate experience as a former non-executive director of Hansteen and from working in advisory roles with Lloyds Bank and Transport for London.

Cotton is currently chairman of Helical and a consultant to Big Yellow Group, where he been a non-executive director since 2012.

Target Healthcare REIT added it expects Michael Brodtman to be appointed as an independent non-executive director early in the new year.

Brodtman has extensive knowledge of the property sector. He worked for global property advisors CBRE for more than 40 years, retiring as chairman of the UK advisory division in June this year. He led the firm’s valuation department for over 20 years, and sat on its executive board and operating committee, respectively responsible for strategic direction and day-to-day management.

He is a fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and has been extensively involved with the RICS throughout his career. He was formerly a member of the policy committee of the British Property Federation, the RICS Global Valuation Professional Board and the Bank of England Commercial Property Forum.

Brodtman was formerly a non-executive director of Investment Property Databank and housing association Places for People. He is also a trustee of Jewish Care, which provides health and social care services for London’s Jewish community, including 10 care homes catering to 500 residents.
