High-end care provider Wellgate Care, which specialises in support for young people and adults with learning disabilities and physical disabilities, has appointed Debbie Smith (pictured) as director of care, following the company’s acquisition of Folkestone-based MNP Complete Care Group last month.

Smith’s last position was as a management consultant and she brings more than 20 years’ experience in health and social care. At Wellgate she will be responsible for growing the business, identifying new opportunities and developing relationships with local authorities. She previously worked at a number of care and support providers including Avenues Group, CMG, and Craegmoor as well as working as a senior manager for three housing associations.

Wellgate Care managing director Jack Eldridge said: “Debbie has an exceptional track record for adding value for care and support providers. Her involvement is key to growth and success as we move forward and we’re excited for her to be on-board.”

The company has also hired Andy Denness who joins Wellgate Care as compliance director to assist with the growth of the business.
