Shawlands Dental Care sold to Dentex
Co-ownership model dental business Dentex has acquired Shawlands Dental Care, a Scottish dental care operator, for an undisclosed sum.
Founded in 2014, Shawlands Dental Care is an eight-surgery practice in Glasgow. It primarily offers private dental care to people in the city, as well as receiving dental implant referrals from all over the country.
Speaking on behalf of Dentex, partnership and acquisition manager, Chris Lekkas, said: “We are delighted to partner up with Shawlands Dental Care. Over the last eight years, they have continued to invest in the premises, their team, and new technologies to offer the highest level of service to their patients. Working together, we look forward to continuing to build on their success in what is already one of the leading dental practices in Scotland.”
Joel Mannix, associate director – dental at Christie & Co, added: “Following a very selective process with the details only being distributed to a pre-approved list of buyers, we were able to use our extensive knowledge of the Scottish dental market to achieve a number of extremely competitive bids and allowed our client to select a preferred buyer that matched the ethos both of the Principals and the business they have built.
“Following the conclusion of the deal in June 2022, all parties were delighted with the outcome; Dentex has acquired one of the best practices in Scotland and the sellers can now concentrate on their wider clinical role within the practice.”
Specialist business property advisor Christie & Co handled the sale.
As reported by HealthInvestor, Dentex is currently on the market with Jefferies investment banking company. Sources say it is marketed off around £32-36 million EBITDA. However, its latest acquisitions including Shawlands may impact the valuation of the group, this publication understands.
