Work begins on £14m Oakland Care home

Work has begun on an Oakland Care’s residential, nursing and dementia care home development in Wigmore in Kent.

The total project cost is £14 million including costs associated with the land purchase, construction costs and fit-out works, an Oakland Care spokesperson tells HealthInvestor UK.

Facilities in the 68-bed home include a café/bistro, hairdresser & nail salon, barber, multi-function audio-visual room, therapy room, activities lounge, assisted bathroom, communal external balconies, sensory room, air-conditioned lounges and landscaped courtyard garden areas.

Oakland Care is in the process of completing projects in Swanley and Maidstone due for opening in May and June respectively. The group is also part way through building its ninth home in Hildenborough which will open in Spring 2023.

The Wigmore care home will be opening in late 2023.

Dalton Homes North East has been appointed to build the property.
