Retirement village specialist Rangeford Villages has appointed Doug Jones as land and planning director, joining the company’s land division and reporting to newly appointed managing director for Rangeford Developments, Ryan Fairbairn.

He will be responsible for identifying, negotiating, and purchasing new land, as well as ensuring all the necessary planning processes and approvals are in place.

Jones has more than 30 years’ experience in the later-living sector, where he specialised in identifying, acquiring and obtaining planning consent for later-living schemes, working with companies such as Pegasus, Churchill, and Castleoak Care Development. During this time, Jones acquired more than 80 sites with a combined gross development value of £1 billion.

Jones said: “I am very much looking forward to joining Rangeford and to integrating with the existing management team that is currently delivering retirement developments at Wadswick Green in Wiltshire, Mickle Hill in North Yorkshire, and Siddington Park in the Cotswolds. I am pleased to have been given this opportunity to help Rangeford grow its already impressive portfolio.”

Rangeford Villages’ chief executive Howard Nankivell commented: “Rangeford’s ability to attract such an experienced person as Doug, is testament to its vision, as it continues with its ambitious development plans in the UK retirement market. Doug will be a great asset to the management team, his experience in the sector is proven. He will play a key role in supporting the group’s exciting expansion plans, at Rangeford’s time of rapid growth in the later-living sector.”

Rangeford works in partnership with healthcare property investor and manager Octopus Healthcare.
